Guild of One Name Studies conference April 2025 - Flash sale of tickets (30 August to 3 September)
The Guild of One Name Studies 2025 conference "Gateway to the World" is to be held from 25 April 2025 to 27 April 2025. This is to be a hybrid conference - both in-person and online for remote attendees.
There is to be a 'flash sale' of tickets for remote attendees. Prices will be almost 50% cheaper than full price tickets. The sale will run from Friday, 30 August, until Monday, 3 September.

The Queensland State Archives has advised that its ArchivesSearch will be offline this weekend while security improvements are implemented. It is planned to be back by 9am on Monday, 26 August 2024.

Price rise of English/Welsh BDM certificates
The General Register Office (UK) has increased its prices of birth, death & marriage certificates. The new prices for those usually ordered are:
Full certificate (posted) with index quoted - GBP12.50 (an increase of GBP1.50)
PDF (births & deaths only) - GBP8.00 (an increase of GBP1.00)
Online view digital image (births & deaths only, restricted years) - GBP3.00 (an increase of GBP0.50)
For those ordered through our Research Room, fees will now be $25 (certificate), $16 (PDF) & $6 (digital image)

Museums of History NSW (MHNSW) is keen to partner with groups or societies like ours, which have an interest in history & in making the State Archives Collection more accessible.
