Murwillumbah Library event 14 September 2026, 10 am

Following is an excerpt from an email received from the Murwillumbah Library:
Join local Murwillumbah resident Alice Woods, a former local history librarian and passionate Wikipedia editor, for an engaging workshop exploring how local communities can help improve the representation of Murwillumbah and surrounding areas online.
Wikipedia is often the first place people look when researching local places, people and events. During this workshop, Alice will showcase some of the existing articles relating to Murwillumbah, including stories such as the 1978 Murwillumbah bank robbery and Murwillumbah Swamp Beer, while also exploring topics that are missing or could be expanded.
This workshop is an opportunity for local and family history enthusiasts to consider how their knowledge, research and expertise can help preserve and share our region's stories with a global audience. Participants will learn how Wikipedia works, what makes a good article, and how they can contribute reliable, well-sourced local history content.
If you are interested in attending, bookings (essential) can be made by phoning (02) 6670 2427.
